Do Wigs Damage Your Hair?
Hey everybody, this is Danii and I’m going to answer a question that I’ve seen on Instagram quite a lot. It’s, “Does wearing a wig damaged your hair?” And the answer to that is kind of tricky, because there are a few factors to play with it. A wig, if not installed or applied correctly, most definitely can damage your hair. If you do not take care of your hair under your wig or if your hair was not prep correctly, it most definitely can damage your hair. But on the other note, if all those things were done correctly, a wig cannot damage your hair, it can actually grow your hair. And wearing a wig is actually a protective style that many do not see. And when it comes to wigs, you do not always need to wear glue. Keynote: This is a glueless wig. You do not have to wear glue when it comes to these wigs. You do not have to sleep in these wigs if you don’t want to.
I do recommend a lot of people educate themselves more when it comes to wigs. I do feel like people should do the research when it comes to applying these correctly. I feel like people should know exactly how to protect their hair under their wigs. It just helps when it comes to the whole debate about wigs damaging hair and wigs not being good for people’s hair. A lot people that say that are people that do not know how to apply wigs correctly.
So, like I said, not really cut and dry when it comes to that because there are different factors. Are you sleeping in your wig? Did your pitcher break down correctly? And another note, you don’t always have to have your hair braided down. Like, for right now under my wig, my hair is in a ponytail, but I do not sleep in my wig and I take my wigs off at night. I oil my scalp and I let my hair breathe.
